TROOP 22
MINUTES OF THE PARENT/COMMITTEE MEETING
THURSDAY, MAY 6, 2010

Present: Mark, Rosanne, Ellie, Rich, Leah, Marie, Tricia & Mary

(This meeting was held one week early as Rosanne is attending a school play at the MACC on May 13th.)

SATURDAY, MAY 15
CAR WASH FUNDRAISER AT AZEKA 10:00 - 4:00 (***Everyone to be there at 9:00 am for set up***)
This is an important fundraiser and we will need everyone (scouts and parents) to come out and help.
We should be able to raise at least $1,000.00 that day.
Rosanne is to submit the paperwork to both the scout office (Request for Fundraiser; request for tax exempt form and certificate of insurance and tour permit) and Azeka (letter of confirmation; tax exempt form; certificate of insurance; $100.00 payment for water; and contract)
We will need the following items the day of:
Signs - Each scout is to create a sign so that we can advertise our car wash
Please try to make the sign as large as possible and lots of color.
The boys will take turns holding up their signs on the sidewalk.
Faucet to Hose splitter for 2 hoses - Mark
Hoses and nozzles - Mark
car wash soap - Rosanne
Lots of pails
Lots of rags
soft brushes
squeegees
4 step stools/short ladders to reach the roof
2 shade tents
2 - 6' tables (Rosanne to bring one)
Bring your own chair
Bring your own cooler with drinks and snacks
(There are lots of restaurants close by to pick up lunch)
Cash Box (Does anyone have one???)

Everyone received 12 pre-sale tickets. The cost is $5.00 for a car and $7.00 for a truck.
If you want to offer people a $1.00 discount you can do so. I am expecting that everyone
turn in $60.00 for their 12 tickets. The amount they turn in will go into their own account
and they will receive the whole amount as credit towards their costs of travel to Alaska in 2011
to attend Boy Scout Summer Camp in Alaska next summer.

The money we make the day of will be split among the boys who help wash cars all day.

2010 NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP TRAINING (NYLT)
MONDAY, JUNE 21 - SATURDAY, JUNE 26
This camp is limited to 20 boys. Must be 13 or 14 years old (Mark checking on age limit) and have your First Class.
Please get your paperwork in right away. Let Mark know if you need an application.
(Those who will be staffing will need to go up early to attend Staff Work Shop for Team Building starting Wed. June 16, 17, 18, 19th.
Full days each day and 1/2 day on Sat., Sunday off and return to camp on Monday, June 21st.)

ANYONE WHO HAS THEIR FIRST CLASS AND IS 14 YEARS OLD MAY HELP STAFF SUMMER CAMP THIS YEAR.
PLEASE LET MARK KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
YOU WILL NEED TO ATTEND AT CAMP THE WEEK BEFORE CAMP STARTS (LAST WEEK IN JUNE) FOR COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (C.I.T.)

**DYLAN & NATHAN are requesting to staff camp this year. These 2 scouts need to get in a short "Scouting Resume" setting out what you have accomplished so far in scouting and why you want to be a Counselor at summer camp. Please turn this in to Mark for his approval and signature as soon as possible so that you can get it in to the Scout office soon.**

JULY 4 - JULY 9 TROOP 22 SUMMER CAMP
Anyone who will be attending camp this year please ask Mark for the forms.
Mark is waiting for the forms for Summer Camp to come from the Scout Office.
This year there will be a Thursday night Luau in the long house and a beach day on Thursday at Kamaole Beach III.
We will let you know if your son needs an updated medical form, which is mandatory for all scouts attending camp.
I believe they need to be renewed every 2 years.
At this time this is the list of scouts attending Summer Camp: Kaleb, Nyk, Justin, Kahua, Beni. (??Noah, Thomas, James??)
New scouts that may be attending: Mitchell, Jordan & Devon.
Chris will be Staff (and maybe Dylan and Nathan).
Nash will not be attending summer camp this year as he will be on the mainland.

Merit Badges the scouts are working on now.
Tracking - finishing up
Signaling - finishing up - all boys are to memorize their full name in morse code and be able to send a signal via flashlight in morse code.
Most boys did the semaphore (flags) at Scoutorama.
The next merit badge will be Wood Building/Carpentry.

Rosanne ordered a new flag pole and Fleur De Lis topper. The flag pole arrived, but still waiting on topper.

Please check with your son to see if he received a "Blue Card" for a merit badge he may be working on on his own time.

Please turn in the Merit Badge Counselor Forms.
Parents - please complete the form with information on any merit badges you may be able to teach.
Ask to look at a book called Boy Scout Requirements or go on line to see a list every single merit badge and the requirements.
You can look through it and see if you have expertise in any area of the many badges that are available.

Coupon Books can still be sold for $20.00 each.
We should be receiving them the beginning of June.
$5.00 from every coupon book sold will come directly back to our Troop.
We are asking that each scout sell 5 books.
If your son does not sell any books maybe think about donating $20 directly to our Troop instead. (Just a thought.)

Some of the committee members met with our charter organization rep - Bob Flabetich - at Kihei Baptist Chapel on April 30th to discuss holding our weekly meetings there starting the middle of June and also creating storage space there. Both requests were well received and Bob will be putting in our requests to the Board of Trustees right away. I spoke to Bob on May 6th and he said things are looking good right now and he is just waiting for formal approval.

Respectfully submitted,
Rosanne Wuthrich
Committee Chairperson
