Camp Maluhia

Owned and operated by the Maui County Council, Maluhia is the largest full service scout camp in Hawai'i. It includes cabins, mess hall, a pool, archery and shooting range, and over 100 acres of tropical valleys. Adjacent to Waihe'e Ridge Trailhead. Req Maui County BSA permit.

aka. Papalaua Beach Park, potable water and chemical toliets on site, bbq grills, tent camping. Reef-protected beach. Req County camping permit.

Lime Kiln

Situated between Baldwin and Paia Beach Parks, on HC&S land. Bring own water and toliet facilities. Plenty of beach, sun, and shade under the trees. Also the occasional nude sunbather. Req HC&S permit.

Cattleman's

In a meadow on a working ranch, at the edge of Upcountry forest. Just up the hill from Makawao. Running water and flush toliet on site.

Hosmers Grove

Full camping facilities within Haleakala National Park, just beyond the toll booth at 9000' (2700m) level. Hiking trails to summit and crater. 1st come, 1st served.

Polipoli State Park

The most remote vehicle-accessable camp. Spring-fed running water & flush toliet, plus a cabin in the midst of a pine and eucalyptus forest at 6500' (1980m) on the slopes of Haleakala. Numerous hiking trails. Can also reach on foot via the 7.5 mile (12km) Skyline Trail from Haleakala summit. Req State permit. You *can* use a car on the access road, but you'll wish you brought something with better ground clearance.
